ServicesConnectivity

IP transit, wherever you are.

Our network has its own equipment in Amsterdam, Ede and the Westland. If you are somewhere else in the Netherlands, we bring your connection to us: with transport over fibre, or through an internet exchange you are already on. Either way you get the same transit on AS211588, with the same baseline DDoS protection and the same customer dashboard.

The Netherlands is small. Your transit does not need to be around the corner.

A misconception we hear often: that transit from a network in Amsterdam only makes sense if you are in Amsterdam yourself. The Netherlands is too small for that. Between Nikhef in Amsterdam and BIT in Ede we measure around one and a half milliseconds round trip over our own fibre, and nowhere in the country does that add up to something your users notice.

What does make a difference is how your connection runs and who manages it. That is why we deliver transit in four ways, depending on where you are, and always with one point of contact for both the connection and the transit.

Four routes

How transit reaches you.

In one of our data centres
Are you in Nikhef, NorthC, Cellnex or Databarn in Amsterdam, at BIT in Ede or at Greenhouse in the Westland? Then it is a cross-connect to our equipment.
In another data centre
If your equipment is elsewhere in the Netherlands, we pick up your connection with Ethernet transport, EVPN or a wavelength to our core in Amsterdam.
Through an internet exchange
If you are already on an exchange we are also on, such as NL-ix, SPEED-IX, Frys-IX or ERA-IX, your transit can reach you through that exchange, without new fibre.
At your own location
An office or your own server room is connected through partner fibre, back to our network. We manage the whole route in that case too.
Our network

Our network, drawn out.

This is how it hangs together: our own lit dark fiber between core locations, cross-connects where that is smarter. Click a location to see the services available there.

By region

Where we are, and how we reach beyond.

Amsterdam and North Holland

Our core: Nikhef, NorthC, Cellnex and Databarn, with our own lit fibre between them and the large internet exchanges at the same locations.

Colocation in Amsterdam →
Ede, Gelderland and the centre

BIT in Ede is a core location on our own optical network, with the full range of services and its own link to Amsterdam.

Colocation in Ede →
Westland, The Hague and Rotterdam

Greenhouse in Naaldwijk, with cross-connects to two of our core locations. IP transit is available there directly.

Colocation in South Holland →
Two cores, one network

Our core routers are in Nikhef and NorthC. Land your sessions on both, and maintenance or an outage at one location does not affect your transit.

Somewhere else in the Netherlands? Then we pick up your connection with transport to our core.

How we work

From address to session.

  1. Location and route
Where is your equipment, what bandwidth do you need and are you already on an exchange? That determines the route: cross-connect, transport or exchange.
  2. Intake
AS number, AS-SET and what you want to receive from us. We check your registrations in the IRR, PeeringDB and RPKI before anything reaches a router.
  3. Delivery
The connection to your location, or the port on the exchange, followed by the BGP session with our standard import policy.
  4. In your dashboard
From then on you follow your sessions, traffic, DDoS attacks and prefix lists yourself, wherever you are.

Wherever you are in the Netherlands, you deal with the same people.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about IP transit in the Netherlands

Do I need to be in Amsterdam to take IP transit from you?

No. In Amsterdam, Ede and the Westland it is a cross-connect to our equipment. Elsewhere in the Netherlands we pick up your connection with transport over fibre, or your transit runs through an internet exchange you are already on.

What does the distance mean for latency?

Little. Between Amsterdam and Ede we measure around one and a half milliseconds round trip over our own fibre, and within the Netherlands it stays in the order of a few milliseconds. The route beyond our network, to your users and their providers, usually weighs more.

Can I take transit through an internet exchange?

Yes, if you are on an exchange we are also on, such as NL-ix, SPEED-IX, Frys-IX or ERA-IX. Then no new fibre to your location is needed. We look at which form fits best during the intake.

Do I get DDoS protection and the dashboard at every location?

Yes. Baseline DDoS protection and the customer dashboard come with every IP transit connection from us, regardless of how your connection reaches us.

What does transport to my location cost?

That depends on the location, the distance and the bandwidth. Request a proposal with your address or data centre and we will work out the route for you.

Where is your network?

Tell us your location and we will show you how your transit reaches you.
